Did God Make Salvation Promise Based on Himself?
Yes 🙌 — salvation is God’s promise based on Himself, not on man. That’s why it cannot fail. Let’s see it clearly in Scripture:
1. God Swore by Himself
Hebrews 6:13–18:
“When God made His promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater by whom to swear, He swore by Himself… God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.”
👉 This shows God’s promise of blessing and salvation rests on His own nature, not man’s effort.
2. The New Covenant
- The Old Covenant (Law) depended on Israel’s obedience → they failed.
- The New Covenant depends on God Himself:
“I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12) - It is based on Jesus’ blood (Luke 22:20) — and His blood is eternal, not temporary.
3. God’s Promise in Christ
2 Timothy 1:9:
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life — not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”
👉 God promised salvation before the world began, resting on His purpose, not man’s behavior.
4. Not By Law, But By Christ
Under the New Covenant, God does not judge us by the law anymore:
“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
As believers, we are already sanctified in Christ once for all (Hebrews 10:10).
The only way a person is cut off is if they renounce Christ Himself (Hebrews 10:26–29) — not because of daily struggles with sin.
Our standing is secure in Him.
5. Why This Matters
If salvation depended on us, we would lose it daily as we break the laws daily as sins not just us but Old Testament children of God.
But because God anchored it in Himself — His oath, visible self-Christ, His blood — it is secure forever.
John 6:39: “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.”
✨ Conclusion: God made the promise of salvation based on Himself, His oath, and His unchanging nature.
That’s why we can be sure: if we are in Christ, we are already sanctified, and salvation is secure, eternal, and unshakable — unless one willfully rejects Christ Himself.
